About Little French Key.
Little French Key’s surrounding area was first settled by a Frenchman pirate and was thus called “Frenchman Cay,” which was later abbreviated to French Cay or Key. Little French Key is one of 53 Cays in and around the Bay Islands and it is without a doubt one of the most popular, if not the most popular destination on Roatan. It is certainly a favorite among cruise ship travelers as the cay offers an all in one experience.

Windward side of Roatan.
The Little French Key is located in the southern part of the Roatan island. In fact, the Roatan Yacht Club is just behind the key, in what is referred to as a "lagoon." The lagoon is a section of calm water protected by the barrier reef on one end and the main island on the other. Little French Key has the lagoon on its back, and it borders the reef on its southern end. Beyond the reef, the water can be choppy and rough as the winds flow from the south. But the water around the key is protected, clear, relatively shallow and perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
PRO TIP: LFK’s Average capacity is 100-150 people per day.
NOTE: Little French Key rebuilt their main facility after the 2019 fire.
